1964 was made by schibo and Rice. This is known to be the second best emulator for its fast core, but, in my experience, 1964 has crashed even for games like Super Mario 64 and isn't perfectly stable and can be a bit buggy with its features. The emulator is still alive, and the 1964 team is currently working on a final release of this emulator before discontinuing it, 1964 1.0 (current version is 0.9.9). For more information, view 1964's website. The graphics plugin is a premature version of Rice's Video Plugin, which was, originally, Rice's Daedalus. For some games, it will work just as well as Rice's Video Plugin, but for others, it will look pretty bad. It is not recommended that you use Jabo's DirectSound as 1964's audio plugin, as I have noted that this plugin will have inevitable crackling for most if not all Nintendo 64 games while Azimer's HLE plays sound with no crackling even with the Old School Audio Sync option off (so long as the speed limiter is on). The audio plugin it comes with has no configuration or a way of synching audio to make it sound better and does have relative crackling, so I do not support the use of that plugin in this documentation unless absolutely necessary. The input plugin is probably the best input plugin ever, containing more features than any other input plugin. The problem is that I have to press Tab every time I start a game with it to unlock my mouse so I can close the emulator or click on any of the interface with it. For some reason, everyone else I have asked about this has not had to press Tab or had their mouse locked by this plugin, but I use N64 Virtual Pad as my input plugin since it's more simplistic and doesn't make me have to press Tab every time. 1964 is also the only emulator to make RSP emulation optional, but if you do not select an RSP when using Jabo's DirectSound as your sound plugin, you will hear no sound from the game. - Description by Iconoclast |
