Mupen64 was made by Hacktarux. This is known to be the only emulator portable between almost all operating systems (except for MS-DOS, for example). Hacktarux is currently working on this emulator, so it is still alive and under improvement. For more information, view Mupen64's website. Unlike Project64, Mupen64 and 1964 can assign certain plugins to certain games, which is useful for games requiring different plugins for optimal emulation. Mupen64 also has an interesting core emulation method that lets it use the recompiler core setting instead of the dreadfully slow interpreter core setting, which most other emulators are forced to use to emulate some games like Top Gear Overdrive to a playable state. Unfortunately, Mupen64 does not have some of those more famous emulator features, like NetPlay and GameShark cheats. - Description by Iconoclast |
